Restoration generally means whole sets of parts are stripped and replaced with new parts.
Second hand pianos have never been cheaper, so generally only the more expensive makes are worth the cost of restoration.
This, then and emotional attachment are the two main reasons for restoring a piano.
We have been restoring pianos for 36 years and undertake all aspects of work. Some specialisms may involve other contractors in this field, but generally we offer a quick restringing service once the new bass strings have been individually tailor made, soundboard repairs, new sets of hammers and other action parts as needed, most usually dampers, and finally hand french polishing or half spray half hand finish, in water based or shellac finishes to the shade and shine of your preference.
